Chettinad
Chettinad is a region belonging to Tamil Nadu state, India.
Chettinad is the home of the Nagarathar, a relevant banking and business community. In the region, there are many important industries which are, above all, specialized in Electrochemical Science and Technology research, metals, corrosion prevention and paints.
Chettinad, in addition to the industries, is popular for the cuisine, the architecture and the temples. The Chettinads are considered master chefs and the local cuisine is one of the spiciest of India. Some famous dishes are Chicken Chettinad (Spicy Chicken Curry), Vegetable Chettinad (a vegetable curry) and dishes featuring seafood.
Like every town of the country, the festivities are linked to the temples' festivities. The most visited temples in Chettinad are: Vairavan Kovil, Iraniyur, Karpaga Vinayakar, Kundrakudi Murugan, Kottaiyur Sivan and Kandanur Sivan temples.
