Java To Bali Overland

Selamat Datang! Upon your arrival at the Jogjakarta airport, Meet and greet at the airport by our guide, immediately transfer to Yogyakarta (approximately 2 hours)

Check-in at hotel and rest of the day is free at leisure.

Breakfast is served at the hotel, start the day visiting a local village which portrays traditional Javanese life, explore this lovely village on horse-cart, passing traditional houses, meet friendly locals and their traditional cottage industry. Learn how to play a Javanese instrument (Gamelan) is one of the highlights. Lunch will be provided at local restaurant on the way to Borobudur. After lunch, visit the magnificent Borobudur Temple. The largest Buddhist Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Sites, built by Syailendra Dynasty in the 9th century. Learn the story of Buddha’s life and His teachings beautifully sculptured on its walls and balustrades. 

Breakfast at the hotel, proceed on a discovery tour of this cultural town, first, let’s find out how a morning scene of the vibrant Beringhardjo Market is, follow the guide as you stroll amongst colorful stalls and lanes, walk further to the Sultan’s Palace, built in 1755 where the Sultan of Yogyakarta who is also Governor of the Province still resides.
Visit the museums and gallery displaying royal artifacts, if time allows, there are cultural performance at the pavilion (subject to change).

Next we will continue to visit Taman Sari, ruins of Water Castle (Royal Pleasure Garden built by 1st Sultan in 1758). Lunch is provided at a local restaurant.

Afterwards drive east to the beautiful Prambanan Temple, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a Hindu Temple Complex, constructed in 9th century dedicated to the Hindu Trinity.

Drive back to Yogyakarta before dusk and let’s explore the way locals do! Take a short becak ride (Tricycle) from the iconic Tugu, the guide will tell sights and stories along the way, chance to taste local Javanese foods & snacks sold at streetside eateries. A truly local experience and you will be well-fed! 

Embark on a train ride to East Java, transfer to railway-station to catch “Sancaka Express” at 06.30 in Jombang. As we travel comfortably in an air-condition wagon in reserves seats, some train-attendant offers food and drinks along the journey. Enjoy the beautiful countryside views from the windows before disembarking in Jombang at 10.18, continue by car to Bromo with lunch en route. Check in at hotel in Bromo

Rise early and driven by 4x4 (Jeep) to Penanjakan Viewpoint (or other viewing platform nearby) to wait for beautiful sunrise cracking up from the eastern range of Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park (weather allowing). Afterwards drive further down to the savanna and sand sea, next walk across the sand sea to reach the staircases leading up to the rimcrater of Bromo. If you wish to climb up and enjoy another beautiful view from a top. Back to the hotel for a well-deserved breakfast and hot shower. Lunch is provided en route. Drive along Great Java Post Road (constructed by H. Daendles in 1808) to Banyuwangi. Check in hotel and overnight

Another early rise and driven by 4x4 (Jeep) to Pal Tuding and followed by 1,5 hours walk along shady trails leading to rim crater of Ijen. Pause halfway at Pos Bunder (Weighing Post), a chance to meet local sulfur miners in the post. Exploration takes place at own pace and leisure. Walk back to Pal Tuding and return to hotel. Check out and drive to the Ketapang harbor to catch ferry to Gilimanuk, Bali and continue to Pemuteran, quiet corner near by West Bali National Park

Breakfast at the resort leisurely. Whole day at leisure, a much deserved break after few hectic days in Java. However, if you do not want to be idle and wish to do some jungle trekking or snorkelling trip in West Bali National Park, the resort will be happy to assist and organize it for you. 

Bid farewell to Pemuteran as our Bali guide picks you up to continue the journey to Ubud by way of Bali’s heartland. Stop to view beautiful vistas of Twin Lake (Buyan & Tamblingan) thence pay a visit to Ulun Danu Temple by the lake Beratan. Lunch at a beatiful resort with a view. Afterwards take in the beauty of sweeping panoramic views of rice terraces views in Jatiluwih and burn some calories, take a leisure walk with the guide. Travel further to Ubud for overnight

After breakfast, start an easy day with a visit with chef to local market for the ingredients, then back to hotel, grind, mix and get your hands dirty preparing a Balinese lunch in a cooking-class session. Afterward visit Tirta Empul, a holy spring temple and Pura Gunung Kawi, ancient monuments dedicated for the deceased Kings, beautifully carved out in the rock

Check-out from hotel, leisure morning spent in Ubud square, take a glimpse in Ubud Palace, visit beautiful Pura Saraswati with its lotus pond, and stroll at Ubud Art Market. Continue the trip to Mengwi to visit Taman Ayun Temple and finally the iconic temple of Tanah Lot before ending the day at your beach resort

Day of leisure to enjoy the hotel, relaxing by the pool, get traditional massage or just strolling on the beach, your choice! 

Breakfast at the resort, normal check out time (1200 noon). Transfer to airport to catch homebound flight. End of our service!
