Clothing: it’s recomended to use comfortable and practical clothes

Luggage: remember that you will have to carry the luggage with your rental car.

Night stays: the accomodations varies a lot in the different itineraries. In Iceland you might sleep in very basic buildings like huts, in Southafrica you’ll have a good variety of typical hotels all along the garden route.

Kids: it’s not unusual to take your kids with you on a selfdrive tour, check the itinerary to make sure that the travelling distances are not too long and that the hotels along the road accept kids.
