    Day 1

    Costa Rica’s capital, San José, is in the Central Valley. It’s an extensive plain, guarded by majestic volcanoes and green hills, honoring the natural richness that exists throughout the national territory. Founded in the first half of the eighteenth century, San José is nowadays a city where visitors of the entire world converge; metropolis full of interesting places, faces, and colors reflecting the history of a population.

    Your driver will take you from the San Jose Intl. Airport in to downtown for your first night in country.

    San Jose - Tortuguero
    Day 2

    Today your guide will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning. Admire the biodiversity of an astonishing protected area in Costa Rica as we drive by Braulio Carrillo National Park, a primary forest in 95% of its extension. Have a taste of our delicious Costa Rican breakfast en route.

    Board a comfortable boat upon arrival to the port and let this extraordinarily exotic paradise enchant you, as you travel along the Tortuguero Canals.Have a one-in-a-lifetime experience in this unique place surrounded by a great variety of flora and fauna of breathtaking beauty.

    Enjoy a refreshing cocktail and a delicious lunch as we welcome you to to your lodge in Tortuguero. After lunch, we will visit the museum, the beach area and the small and picturesque town of Tortuguero. A delightful dinner will be served upon arrival to the lodge. Overnight at Pachira Lodge or similar.

    Day 3

    Optional morning tour: Enjoy nature its best as you undertake a journey through the canals at dawn, and take your best shot of a real Caribbean sunrise. Discover Costa Rican flavors as you enjoy breakfast at your Lodge. Walking tour through the private trail of the lodge. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge. Take your time to enjoy the ride by boat through the Tortuguero National Park canals.

    Optional night tour: Walk on the beach and admire the green turtles nesting (July through September). Overnight stay at Pachira Lodge or similar. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

    Tortuguero to Sarapiqui
    Day 04 - 05

    This morning, after breakfast we will get ready for our departure towards the town of Guapiles, where lunch will be served. Right after lunch a representative from your car rental will meet you in order to deliver your rental compact 4x4 vehicle. Your next destination is Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, where you spend the night at El Bambu Hotel or similar.

    Sarapiquí canton, which, with its rich biodiversity, is recognized as a scientific research site and the last stronghold of endangered species such as the great green macaw. The region is famous for the “Turnos” (outdoor parties or festivals) held in its towns, with bull riding and livestock auctions.

    Sarapiqui to La Fortuna, Arenal
    Day 06 - 07

    Drive from Sarapiqui to La Fortuna, home of the famous Arenal Volcano.

    Situated at 253 meters above sea level, this community is made up of people with great spirit and business drive, who have converted a largely agricultural region into a booming commercial and tourism destination. The city features a lovely surrounding landscape, the most imposing features of which are the picture-perfect cones of Volcán Arenal and its eternal companion, Volcán Chato. Fortuna offers visitors a full range of tourism services and products going from nature walks to extreme adventure, cultural approach and agro-tourism.

    It is an important departure point for Caño Negro, the Venado caverns, Monteverde, Tilarán and other destinations. You will be staying at Arenal Country Inn or similar.

    Arenal to Monteverde
    Day 08 - 09

    Drive around the Arenal Volcano and across the mountains until reaching the famous Monteverde. This tourism zone is known around the world for its conservation efforts and lifestyle centered on respect for nature.

    Santa Elena is the area’s main service center with various shops and tourism companies; other important towns are San Luis and San Gerardo. Though its main attraction is the Monteverde Biological Preserve, the region also features a variety of natural places, picturesque paths, flora- and fauna-watching opportunities, natural landscapes and more.

    Monteverde’s most significant tourist activities rest on nature and adventure; however, a cultural component is being revived thanks to the influence of the Quaker community that still dwells in Monteverde and that through much effort has achieved considerable development of the area.

    Monteverde to Tamarindo
    Day 10 -12

    It’s to head down to the beach. We have seen already the Caribbean Sea now it’s the turn to the Pacific Ocean and its particular Dry Forest.Our final destination and location for the following 3 days, is Tamarindo Beach.

    Tamarindo along with Playa Grande and Ventanas forms the Tamarindo Bay. It is a beautiful beach with many rocky areas and an island (Capitán) on the far southern end. It is lined with lush vegetation like, savannah oak, tamarind trees, and coconut trees. It has a variety of high quality services that allow you to enjoy the ocean during the day and party at night. This beach is ideal for relaxing, hiking, and turtle nesting observation. From this bay and to the south is a very popular coastal area for surfing. This beach is Blue Flag certified, meaning it has been recognized for its cleanliness and safety.

    Day 13

    The adventure is coming to an end. It is time to drive back to San Jose for  your last night in country.

    After breakfast drive to San José International Airport, where you will leave your trusted vehicle: end of services.
