Tulum

Tulum is one of the many archaeological sites located in the Yucatan peninsula. It is surely the most scenic thanks to its position. In fact, it stands on a bluff facing the Caribbean Sea, some of its constructions are built sheer over the sea. Tulum provides a breath-taking view.

The name Tulum means trench, it was the first maya village catched by the spanish in 1517.

In the past, Tulum was an important trade centre of fish, honey, salt, obsidian and plumes of quetzal.

The main sight of the archaeological site is the Castillo, a structure that faces the sea, it was used as the port of the city. Tulum attracts every year many tourist thanks to its charm.

In fact, beyond the archaeological site the city also provides beautiful fine sandy beaches.
