Trinidad

Trinidad is a cuban town located in the province of  Sancti Spíritus.

The city was founded by the spanish conquistador  Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar in 1514.

Nowadays it is one of the best preserved caribbean cities, here it is possible to admire the real style belonging to the colonial and slavery ages. This is why, the city was included in the UNESCOs World Heritage Site.

Trinidad has been developed thanks to the sugar trade, while now its economy is based on the tobacco processing. Tourism is another business activity.

The old city is the major tourist hub. Here you can see the Plaza Mayor, the historical square of Trinidad, it is an open space museum, in fact it offers several examples of the spanish colonial architecture, such as the Santísima Trinidad Cathedral and the Convento de San Francisco.

Close to Trinidad is located the renowned peninsula of Ancón, that hosts Playa Ancón. it is considered the most beautiful beach in the southern Cuba. It boasts a wonderful wide caribbean beach and an extraordinary crystal clear sea.
