Santa Clara

Santa Clara is a cuban town, the capital city of the namesake province, it is located in the centre of the island.

In the past, the major business activity was the livestock until the 19th century, when the inhabitants started to cultivate the sugar canes.

Nowadays the most important business activity is the manufacturing and the commercialization of tobacco.

Santa Clara is renowned because it boasts the Mausoleo Che Guevara. Others worth visiting are the Parque Vidal, that is laid on an entire square block, it often serves for public concerts. The park is surrounded by many elements with different architectural style, from Neoclassic to the colonial style. Parque Vidal is used as meeting point by local people. The Teatro de La Caridad, that is one of the few theatre belonging to the colonial style on the island, it is now a National Monument. Plaza del Mercado Central and the Colonia Española de Santa Clara are two others unmissable places.
