Baracoa

Baracoa was the first village founded in Cuba by the spanish conquistador  Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar. Baracoa in indigenous language means "the presence of the sea", because it is located close to different estuaries.

The landscape of the city is really heterogeneous, in fact it is possible to find rivers, mountains and forests. Worth visiting are El Yunque, a characteristic upland, the UNESCO biosphere reserve of Cuchillas del Toa and the extraordinary waterfall of Saltadero.

In addition, Baracoa offers several cultural activities, as the street festival, it is celebrated in April to commemorate the beginning of Cuba’s War of Independence.

The city also provides several beautiful beaches where relaxing, enjoying the landscape and practicing water activities.
