Marshall Islands are an island country formed by 29 atolls and 5 islets lapped by the Pacific Ocean. This country has two main archipelagos: Ratak, which means “sunrise” that counts 16 islands and Ralik, “sunset”, which boasts other 18 islands. The most important are Kwajalein, the country’s largest island, famous for being the atoll with the biggest lagoon in the world, and Majuro, the capital city.
Marshall Islands are part of Micronesia and boast both tropical and equatorial climates. Thus, according to the general meteorological conditions, the best periods to visit the islands are from January to March, if you are going to visit the central-southern regions, and from December to April, if you are planning a visit to the northern islands.
These charming islands are rich in dream beaches: long stretches of white and untouched sand kissed by an amazing light blue sea, where it is possible to practice every kind of water sports. Of course, those who love snorkelling and scuba diving will leave their heart here, due to the wonderful coral reef, the lively marine fauna and the colourful underwater flora. Also those who love fishing will find their natural habitat in this place. Some of the most famous areas for fishing trips trips are Longar, in Arno Atoll, popular for its marlin, mahi-mahi and sailfishes; while on Mejit, lobsters and octopus are common. We only suggest you not go too close to Bikini Island, where in the 50s nuclear potential was tested without taking the negative effects on the natural environment into account.
Marshall Islands provide perfect opportunities also in terms of nightlife. There are several bars, pubs and discos where it is possible to spend the night with friends staying close to the Ocean and walking barefoot on the immaculate beaches. The most important events take place in Majuro.
Finally, visit local markets and let yourself be enraptured by traditional handicraft products. Among the most common goods are kili bags, coin purses, baskets, carpets and several shells necklace.
