Gallipoli

Gallipoli is a town located in Apulia, its name comes from a greek word, that means "Beautiful City". The city is set by the Ionian Sea, in the Salentina Peninsula.

Gallipoli is divided into two main areas, the old and the new city. The first one stands on an islet surrounded by defensive walls, it is connected to the mainland through a bridge.

Not-to-missing places on the little island are: the baroque Sant’Agata Cathedral, it was built during the 17th century and shows a lavishly decorated façade in carparo, a local limestone rock and saints' statues in the niches and the underground oil mills of Palazzo Granafei and Palazzo Grassi.

In the mainland you will find a mix of traditional and modern architecture, that presents some skyscrapers.

Famous and beautiful in Gallipoli are also the long and sandy beaches brushed by crystal clear water that attract sea lovers.
