United Arab Emirates - Useful information for your trip

The United Arab Emirates form a country composed by seven constituent emirates: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujaira, Ras al-Khaima, Sharja e Umm al-qaywayn. They are located in the southeast of Arabian Peninsula.

This country is lapped by the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Oman Gulf, an area which hosts the main trade of crude oil.

Its territory is mainly characterized by desert and by mountain ranges to the east. The permanent settlements are located near the oases, which boast a suitable quantity of underground water to support cultivation and human life. The vegetation of these areas includes date palms, acacias and eucalyptus while the desert mainly has poor vegetable species, such as weeds, brambles and bushes.

The United Arab Emirates has an arid subtropical climate, only on the peaks of the eastern mountains the temperature are less high, because of the altitude.

The country offers many cultural and artistic points of interest, as well as places for relaxing and enjoying the wonders of nature.

All the beaches are well-equipped and lapped by a crystal-clear sea where it is possible to practice every kind of water sports. Unmissable is the sunset viewed by the beach of Umm Suqeim, from which it is possible to admire the whole city.

Moreover, in order to better understand the local traditions it is necessary to visit its historical heritage, to be discovered in the fortresses, museums and archaeological sites. The archaeological site of Jufar allows to understand the structure of the city during the dark ages, while in Hatta Heritage Village it is possible to admire suggestive wind towers and the houses built with clay and sand bricks.

Of course, the United Arab Emirates also offer cosmopolitan cities, such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where the ancient and the modern architectures are perfectly mixed, and the modern skyscrapers design the sky in a unique way.
