Journey on the Transmongolian railway from Moscow to Beijing
- Russia
- Tour
Once all the participants arrive in Moscow we will organize a pick-up from the airport to the hotel and we will be able to visit the city independently during the afternoon, dinner near the hotel. We recommend starting early in the afternoon (the pick-up is organized according to the arrival times of all the participants).
The next day we will continue visiting the main attractions of Moscow, and in the evening we head to the station to get on board the train that will take us to Irkutsk. The journey takes about 3 days and will allow us to observe life on board the train and its passengers until we enter Siberia, all seated comfortably on our seat / bed while we watch our "documentary" from the large window of the train.
Departure in the evening from Moscow and arrival in the morning of Day 6 in Irkutsk. Finally we are on the Transmongolan railway, during the train journey you can relax, get to know your travel companions on board the train and enjoy the hourly stops.
We will arrive by train on the morning of the sixth day and from Irkutsk we will move to the island of Olkhon and lunch at the local restaurant, arriving around 15:00 and check-in at the guesthouse. Then we will go to the discovery of the famous Shaman Rock and take a walk to the village of Chužir. Dinner included.
Breakfast at the hotel and next excursion to the Cape of Khoboy, the northernmost point of the island, a sacred place for the shamans. The trip will allow you to discover the beauty of the sea and the primordial nature of this area. Outdoor lunch (based on omul fish) and subsequent walks during stops in the most interesting places. Return to Khuzhir. The road passes through the steppes, the beaches and the taiga. Dinner included.
We will return to the hotel in the afternoon and visit the city based on the time of arrival before dinner at the hotel. In the city of Irkutsk we can admire the noble palaces of the late nineteenth century, (period in which the city began to prosper), and a lively atmosphere especially on the river in the summer.
Here we can admire the beautiful wooden houses with windows embellished with refined carving decorations in typical Siberian style of which the city is full (it is said that those of Irkutsk are the most beautiful and best preserved). They are mainly found in the old neighborhoods of Irkutsk and serve as spoilers to what will be seen in non-urban Siberia.
We visit the Orthodox Cathedral of the Epiphany and Znamensky Monastery, a lovely Orthodox monastery with a richly decorated interior. We will take a guided tour of the city and return to the hotel in the evening.
At the appropriate time we are taken to the station to board the train that will take us directly to the capital of Mongolia, Ulan Bator. We carry out customs formalities on board and continue until the arrival in the capital the next morning.
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is one of the best-known natural parks, about 70 km from the capital and is famous for the "Turtle Rock" and Ariyabal temple. We will spend the day visiting the famous rock and Ariyabal temple, possible extra horse ride.
We will pick you up at your hotel, or at the airport / train station depending on your needs in the early morning to drive to Khustai National Park (about 90km). Here we will stop to see a short documentary explaining how the park was established and the history of the famous takhi wild horses. We will have lunch here.
Afterwards we will take a walk through the park and we will move around the various sections by car to the most interesting points, continuing on foot. We will leave our things to the nomads in the ger, we will make their acquaintance, and they will welcome us as usual. A good hot tea and a dinner based on noodles or ravioli with meat and vegetables awaits us. The following day we will return to Ulan Bator.
Today we will visit Ulan Bator: depending on your preferences, you can visit Zaisan area, the National Gallery or the main temples in Ulan Bator.
At the appropriate time we are accompanied to the train station to get on the train that will take us to Beijing. Arrival expected the following morning. Border crossing formalities will be carried out on board the train.
Arrival at Beijing station in the morning, our guide is waiting to accompany us on a visit to the Forbidden City and the impressive Chinese Wall. At the end of the excursion we have some time to make the last purchases before returning to the hotel / hostel.
The next day we will take you back to the airport depending on the group flight plan.
