Here are the highlights of your trip and tailor-made tour:
Your vacation will be a trip off the beaten path, to discover a different world from what you're used to: you just have to prepare the backpack and hiking boots!
Arrive in Siem Reap, welcome and check in to the hotel.
This morning you will go from village to village, crossing the red landscape of Beng Mealea. Along the way you will have the opportunity to observe the quiet lifestyle of Cambodia and craft activities (blacksmith , barber, palm sugar farmers etc).
Then visit the temple of Beng Mealea, still hidden in the deep jungle. By car you'll then move to Phnom Kulen, the sacred mountain of the Khmer. The pilgrims climb the hill to pray at the feet of a reclining Buddha statue. Then you will reach the famous waterfall.
After lunch hiking on small trails through the forest leading to the village where you will spend the night in a local family house. ( 5-6 hours trekking).
Visit Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer empire: it covers and area of about 9 sqkm and here you can find several monuments, with majestic Bayon mountain-temple rising in the middle. Overnight in a hotel.
Visit world famous Angkor Wat archaeological site, symbol of Cambodia and the largest temple ever built in the world. Overnight in a hotel.
This morning we'll set off by car to reach and discover the village of the Bunong community. Artisans will open their doors to introduce visitors to their activities. You'll continue on to resume the trekking path in the rainforest accompanied by the elephants, which you'll be able to approach.
You can feed them their favorite food, bananas and bamboo. Accompanied by their mahouts (elephant breeders), they will let you observe them. Then continue along the waterfall. This is the time to share a few moments with the Bunong, learning more about their daily lives and the life in the rainforest.
Lunch near the waterfall and tasting of traditional dishes prepared by the mahout. It will be possible to swim in the waterfall, with the elephants, during their daily bath. In the afternoon you'll continue with the trek through the rainforest of Mondulkiri through rivers, woods and fields. Dinner and overnight in a local family home. (Day hiking about 3-4 hours).
Second day of hiking in another area of Mondulkiri. You will visit a coffee plantation with some coffe tasting. Then it's on until you reach a beautiful waterfall. Swimming and picnic on the banks. The hike will then continue to the remote village of the Phnong minority crossing valleys and rivers to Sen Monorom ( 5-6 hour walk depending on the season). Overnight in a guest house.
