This wild nature off-road Brazil tour will take you through one of the most unique regions of the planet, the Route of Emotions – Jeri, Delta, and Lençóis Maranhenses. Along your journey you will encounter crystal clear lakes, the only open sea delta in the Americas and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

You will explore three states of Northeastern Brazil on modern 4×4 vehicles and speedboats. You will also have the chance to try several optional activities including walks, horse rides, panoramic flights, surf, kite and windsurf, bird and natural life watching always in close contact with local communities.

    Your English-speaking guide will be waiting for you at Marechal Cunha Machado International Airport with a sign with your name on it. Your private driver will accompany you to your hotel.

    Day 2 Transfer by car

    After breakfast, you will travel by mini-bus towards Santo Amaro in the Lençóis Maranhenses. After 3 hours reach the village of Sangue from where you will leave on 4×4 by trails of sand to the bucolic Santo Amaro, location of the movie Casa de Areia (House of Sand). You will arrive at Rio Alegre, embracing the little town with coconut trees and dunes.

    After check in, 4×4 trip to the Lagoa da Gaivota (Seagull Pond), passing through the region of lakes and fields. Walk to the top of the dune and enjoy a splendid view of the Lençóis. Take a walk through the dunes and a dip in the waters waiting for the sunset. Overnight in Santo Amaro.

    Day 3 Transfer by car

    After breakfast board a private 4×4 and travel to one of the most striking regions of the Lençóis Maranhenses. Your tour will begin with Espigão (Spike), a region of dunes. You will then reach the village of Betânia on the banks of the pond, for a canoe ride up to the giant dunes on the opposite side. The exuberant and overwhelming nature and the slow way of life of residents will make you feel like you are in a daydream. After lunch travel by private vehicle to Barreirinhas for the night.

    Day 4 Transfer by car

    After breakfast, travel by 4×4 towards the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. You will cross the Rio Preguiças by ferry and continue on for 40 minutes until you reach a high dune. From the top of the dune you'll admire a striking view of the Lençóis. After a five minutes walk through the dunes arrive at the famous Lagoa Bonita. After lunch (not included), explore further and then continue by trails in the sand to the lagoons Lagoas Azul and Dos Peixes with their incredible and transparent waters.

    Before returning to the pousada, watch the sunset on the Lençóis Maranhenses. Overnight in Barreirinhas.

    Barreirinhas – Caburé - Atins
    Day 5 Transfer by car

    After breakfast, departure to the port where you will embark on fast motor boats up the river Rio Preguiças until the Caburé Beach. On the way, palms and mangroves are home to birds, reptiles and mammals. The first stop will be in Vassouras, one of the points where the dunes of the Rio Preguiças meet the Pequenos Lençóis. Monkeys (“macacos pregos”) and parrots will amaze anyone who stops to have cold drinks served at the shadows of the tents.

    Get on a motorboat and reach the lighthouse of Mandacaru in the village of the same name: on top of its eight floors you will admire a 360 degrees view of the area. Head to the small town of Caburé with rustic inns and restaurants, where you will have lunch (not included). After lunch cross the Preguiças River to the village of Atins where you will stay for the night. Optional: motor boat ride to the dormitory of the birds.

    Caburé - Parnaíba
    Day 6 Transfer by car

    After breakfast, say goodbye to the Lençóis aboard your powerful 4×4. Desert beaches, fields and dunes make up the landscape in this stretch. Short stop for photos at the Oasis of the Rio Novo (New River), the gateway to Pequenos Lençóis. You will pass through Paulino Neves and its wooden bridge over the Rio Novo. Secondary roads will lead to Lagoinha where you will appreciate Dona Madás’s shrimps (not included), while contemplating the lake.

    Continue to Tutóia where you'll take the speedboat to cross the Delta do Parnaíba and its majestic labyrinth of islands, such as Igoronhon, Paulino, Caju and Canárias Islands, stopping at Morro do Meio for a quick walk on thedunes of Caju Bay and a swim in Parnaíba River.

    The guarás (red ibis), a beautiful bird with bright red plumage can be easily seen when the sun goes down (the sightings of animals depend on several factors). Arrival at the Port of Tatus and transfer to the the hotel in Parnaíba.

    Parnaíba – Barra Grande
    Day 7 Transfer by car

    After breakfast, transfer to Porto de Tatus and embark on a speedboat crossing the maze of islands in the Delta of Parnaíba. Short stop for photos in the dunes of Ilha Grande de Santa Izabel. Explore the Igarapé dos Periquitos, following its narrow channel flanked by several mangrove forest. Enjoy the crab caranguejo-uçá pick, a local delicacy.

    You will walk through the Igarapé dos Poldros, dividing the islands of the Poldros and the Canaries. In this stream it is common to sight animals such as monkeys, alligators, iguanas and birds. Landing at the chain of dunes Feijão Bravo.

    On one side we see a river beach and on the other a beautiful ocean beach, bathed by the Atlantic! The mangrove forest and ponds (in flood) complete the picture. After lunch (not included), return to the port for a panoramic tour of Piauí’s Eastern Coast.

    After 35 km of paved road, we will arrive at charming Barra Grande beach, a paradise for kitesurfers. We will experience a little of the lifestyle of the natives on a canoe and cart tour sighting seahorses in the estuary of the Rio Cardoso.

    Barra Grande - Jericoacoara
    Day 8 Transfer by car

    Depending on natural conditions, after breakfast you ride a canoe (not included) for sighting the rare manatee at Cajueiro Beach, home to the  headquarters of the Marine Mammal Center project / ICMBio. According to the tide, you will leave Barra Grande towards Jericoacoara traveling along 115 km of asphalt to the the raft, at the mouth of the River Coreaú, which will be crossed to reach the white dunes and carnaúbas palm trees in Camocim’s Island of Love.

    The 4×4 will travel along the waterfront to the beach of Tatajuba. You can descend the Funil dune using sandboarding planks leased at place (not included).

    In Torta Lagoon you will be delighted by the small hammocks over the water and the fruits of the sea “live” menu from Didi’s restaurant. The second ferry crossing will take place on the Guriú beach, with its green-water channel and the cemetery of the mangrove trees.

    Travel along the waterfront to Jericoacoara arriving in time to watch the sunset on famous Duna do Pôr do Sol (Dune of the Sunset), the daily ritual of residents and visitors. The overnight stay in Jericoacoara will allow you to taste the nightlife of the small town, its restaurants, shops and bars.

    After breakfast, take an off-road tour at Lagoa do Paraíso and Lagoa do Coração lagoons, visiting the Pedra Furada (Holed Stone), which we will reach after a 20 minute walk from the Duna do Serrote.
    The Lagoa do Paraíso offers white and very fine sands combining with the green of the ground vegetation and coconut trees which in turn frame the turquoise crystal clear water.
    Overnight in Jericoacoara. Note: On this day tours may be modified in order and route due to natural conditions.

    Today is dedicated to free sightseeing Jericoacoara. You can also travel to nearby areas on quads or horses,or go swimming, especially at the beach of Malhada, which has a small “bath” of warm water formed on the rocks.

    Day 11 Transfer by car

    After breakfast, departure in 4×4 to Praia do Preá, where after 14 km of secondary roads we will reach the pavement. You will cross several small towns like Acaraú and Itarema until reaching the beaches of Icaraí da Amontada, Apiques, Caetano, Baleia and Mundaú, where the ferry will takes you to the beach of Guajiru.

    Throughout this coastal stretch of blue sea, the dunes and coconut trees will guide you through small fishing colonies interspersed with beaches and sophisticated luxury houses, in a breathtaking landscape which is typical of Ceará’s coast. This day may undergo changes in route due to the tide. Overnight in Guajiru Beach.

    Guajiru - Fortaleza
    Day 12 Transfer by car

    According to the tide schedule, cross the mouth of the Trairi by ferry to the beautiful Lagoinha beach, Ceará’s postcard, where you will take a strategic stop for pictures, bathing and lunch. We will continue soon after by asphalt road to the beaches of Cumbuco and Icaraí, already in the metropolitan area of Fortaleza.
    Transfer to the airport.
