Chihuahua
The state of Chihuahua is located in the north-western part of Mexico. Its name comes from the Nahuatl word Xicuahua, which meant "dry and sandy." In fact a large part of its territory is located on a vast desert plateau while only a few areas are covered by the forests.
Observed from above seems to have an L shape, following the shape of the valley in which it is located, between high mountains over 2000 meters.
Being an area close to the desert, the weather conditions are quite extreme and characterized by high temperatures during the summer and very cold in winter, with large temperature variations between day and night.
The absence of precipitation brought the construction of 4 dams which regulate the flow of water of the surrounding areas. It is estimated that on average each year fall down only 400/500 mm of rain and they are all concentrated during the months from July to September.
The recorded temperatures are extremes: ranging from -8 ° C of the winter to 37 ° C of the summer, while the annual average is established around 17 ° C.
Chihuahua is the capital of the same name state, today is an archbishopric and an important economic hub and commercial center of Mexico, because it is the place of many factories as well as a a famous university campus.
