Lisbon

Lisbon is the largest and the capital town of Portugal, it is located close to the Atlantic Ocean on hillsides that overlook the Rio Tejo.

The western part of the city owns the Monsanto Forest Park, a protected forest with a interesting ecosystem.

Lisbon is rich in points of natural and cultural interest. Walking around the city you will find many architecture styles, here you can find romanesque, gothic, manueline, baroque, modern and postmodern buildings. Worth visiting are the National Museum of Ancient Art, that presents art collection from the Middle Ages to the early 19th century, the National Azulejo Museum, dedicated to the azulejo, a particular technique to painting, the  Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, shows collections of ancient and modern art and the many others.

During your trip in Lisbon you have also to visit the Belém Tower, a fortified tower, and Jerónimos Monastery, now part in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
