You can't say you've really known Thailand if you haven't seen their famous floating markets! Here are the most interesting located in the capital and in its whereabouts.

Bangkok is a vibrant and modern city which still offers much in terms of traditions. In every corner you can find stalls selling everything from street food to clothes and electronic objects and much else. In some areas of the city there are very characteristical markets and some of these have become very popular. Visiting one of these markest is a good chance to buy some curios at knockdown prices and a good way to watch Thai life with your own eyes. Here are the markets you shouldn't miss during your stay in Bangkok!

Chatuchak Weekend Market: Chatuchak market is one of the largest in the world and here you can find really everyting at a very cheap price. As the name itself suggests, the market is open only on Saturday and Sunday and it's recommended to arrive in the morning to avoid the crowd of tourists and afternoon visitors. Given the size, the market is divided into different sections where you can find souvenirs, handmade objects, clothes, food and drinks, homeware, plants and even animals. To reach Chatuchak market, you can get off at MRT station in Chatuchak Park or BTS station in Mo Chit.

Bangkok's markets you must see

Here are the must-see markets in Bangkok and its whereabouts:

Floating Market: Bangkok floating markets are situated a few kilometers from the city center. The most important are Taling Chan, Khlong Lat Mayom and Damnoen Saduak. In these markets situated on the canals outside Bangkok, dealers sell their products directly on small boats. Some have become real tourist attractions, while others still retain the charm of tradition and certainly deserve a visit.

Patpong Night Market: The night market in Patpong, situated in Silom district, is a place where counterfeited goods are mainly sold, for example clothes or electonic objects such as Cds and Dvds. The area where this market is located is also famous for its red-light clubs, where you can watch world-renowned ping-pong shows. It's set up every day from 6 pm to about 1 pm. The nearest stop is Sala Daeng BTS station.

Or Tok Kor: One of the best markets in the world to find any sort of food and drinks. Meat, fish, vegetables and beverages are of a quality that is hard to find in other similar markets, not only in Thailand but all over the world. And prices are really low! The nearest stop is Kampheng Phe MRT station.

Pak Klong Talad: Also known as Flower Market, it's a real sight with its colors and smells of fresh flowers on the stalls. Roses, tulips, orchids: flower lovers won't be disappointed! The market is situated in Bangkok old town, near the temples and not far from Wat Pho, the temple of the reclining Buddha.

Other interesting markets outside Bangkok are Rom Hub in Samut Songkhram, Samchuk in Suphan Buri and Plaernwan in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
