Flights
For those dreaming of a trip to Mongolia, the first challenge to tackle is: how to reach this enormous and remote country?
Every Mongolia tour starts in the capital Ulaan Bataar, which can be reached via Moscow with flights operated by the Russian company Aeroflot. The Mongolian company MIAT allows to reach the capital via Berlin or via Beijing, also crossed by Air China flights.
Flights to Mongolia are quite expensice and it is recommended to book in advance.
Mongolia by train: the Transmongolian railway
Mongolia can be reached also by train, along the legendary Transmongolian Railway system. This journey crosses Central Asia covering 6000 km. You will board the train at Moscow station and then you'll set off across Siberia, reaching the city of Irkutsk. From here you will leave for Ulaan Bataar, the capital of Mongolia. Here we suggest to stop for a few days to visit the nearby attractions, including Gorkhi Terelj Park and Khustai National Park.
From the railway station you will leave again for China, where the journey ends in Beijing. The Transmongolian ride is surely thrilling and unforgettavle, but is also very expensive. Many choose it as a honeymoon.
