Mongolia is beautiful, spectacular, unforgettable, yes, sure, but you need to be well covered up against the icy winds. Most of the year the country is in fact cold, with strong cold winds (not to mention the winters, where temperatures can even go down to -40, a period in which we do not recommend to travel).
What to pack for spring and summer
Bring clothes for spring and autumn, T-shirts for the extreme heat of the day, long -sleeved shirts, windbreakers, sweatshirts and sweaters for the evening and night. Do no forget a k-way, since the summer is the rainiest season in Mongolia. Most of the time you will be hiking and trekking, so bring the right trekking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses and cap.
What to pack for winter
If you choose to travel in winter, maybe to ski, knowing that temperatures are extremely rigid, you need to be ready for the cold, so pack fleece sweatshirts, Gore Tex jackets, technical shoes, thermal linen, wool cap or even a busby hat.
What to pack for every season
No matter when you decide to travel: before leaving for a trip to Mongolia, be sure to pack the following.
- A good camera: the landscapes in Mongolia are unforgettable!
- A kit of first-aid medicines, since it could be hard to find them in the country
- An insect repellent
- Plasters
- A copy of your passport or other identity documents
- Cash (credit cards can be used only in Ulaan Bataar, they will be quite useless in Gobi desert!)
