Mexico tour, Mexico City, Chiapas, Yucatan

Arrive at Mexico City international airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

Sightseeing in the city and Teotihuacan archaeological site. Later on visit the Zocalo (the main square with the Cathedral and National Palace), Templo Mayor, Basilica of Our Lady of Guadeloupe, patroness of Mexico and main pilgrimage site in Latin America.

At the end of the tour visit Teotihiuacan with the imposing Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Lunch in a local restaurant. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Breakfast. Morning visit to the Museum of Anthropology, with the largest and most important collection of pre-Columbian findings in the world. In the early afternoon transfer to the airport and flight to Villahermosa. Arrival and transfer to Palenque by car. Check in to the hotel and overnight.

Breakfast. Trip to the ancient and impressive Mayan city of Yaxchilan, on the banks of Usumacinta river, entirely covered by the jungle whose silence is only broken by the squealing of monkeys and countless tropical birds. Second breakfast enroute. In the afternoon visit nearby Bonampak, mainly famous due to the stunning wall frescoes. Return to Palenque and overnight.

In the morning visit the archaeological site of Palenque, still partly hidden by the tropical jungle, full of charm and unique pyramids. After the visit of the wonders located in this World Heritage Site, departure to Campeche. Upon arrival panoramic tour of the town, still enclosed and fortified with towers and walls, still preserving a strong colonial flavor. Check in to the hotel and dinner at the hotel.

Breakfast. In the morning depart for Ezna site, featuring the imposing Building of the Five Storeys and the Mask Palace. Then it's on to famous Uxmal, the culminating example of the Mayan civilization along with Palenque and Chichen Itza.

The complex, founded and completed between 600 and 950 AC, is full of temples, pyramids and splendid palaces with decorated facades with marvellous stucco friezes. Lunch. In the afternoon arrive in Merida and enjoy a short tour of this charming city with low houses, churches and colonial buildings raised around the Zocalo. Overnight in a hotel.

Departure to the Caribbean Sea stopping enroute first in Izamal: here the Spaniards built the grand convent of St. Anthony on the ruins of a Mayan temple. Then it's on to Chichen Itza, the largest Mayan city in Yucatan and declared Unesco's heritage. Lunch.

In the afternoon visit the site, established around 400 AC and occupied by the Toltecs around the year 1000 who later abandoned it around 1250: many buildings still show the splendour of Chichen, including the great pyramid called "El Castillo", the Jaguar Temple, the Observatory etc. In the late afternoon proceed to Cancun on the Caribbean Sea. Arrive and check-in to the hotel.

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport and departure.
