    Suggested sightseeing and excursions for today: visit Cabo San Lucas. This seaside area is located on a tip of Baja California, where the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of California meet the Pacific Ocean. The warm waters, the relaxing atmosphere and the excellent sport facilities attract any kind of tourist. Most of the accommodations have their own beaches and offer a wide selection of activities to their guests.

    Day 3

    Suggested sightseeing and excursions: visit La Paz, the capital city of Baja California Sur. In 1720 the Jesuits established a mission here, “Nuestra señora de la Paz”. Today a cathedral bearing the same name, "Our Lady of Peace", occupies the area of the former mission.

    The building is situated in front of Plaza Costituciòn, one of the most popular meeting places in La Paz. On the opposite side of the square, Biblioteca de Historia de las Californias showcases paintings, ancient documents and information on the missions. The best beaches are located in the north of the city, on the strip of land separating La Paz bay and the Gulf of California. You can rent a boat and reach Espiritu Santo island, around 8 km off the coast, one of the best places for scuba diving.

    Suggested sightseeing and excursions: visit Loreto. Situated between the golden sierra and the Gulf of California, Loreto was once the political and religious center of Baja California. “Nuestra señora de Loreto” church, built in 1687, was the first missionary place of worship in California.

    After the hurricane in 1829, the capital was moved to La Paz. In the 70s, the Mexican government pushed Loreto as an important tourist destination. Even after several years, Loreto has maintained a certain provincial atmosphere: few hotels and restaurants serve usual customers in Loreto.

    Suggested sightseeing and excursions: visit Mulegè and Bahia Concepciòn. Verdant Mulegé lies among orange trees and date palms and attracts sport lovers who also enjoy its relaxed atmosphere.

    Here you can go on an excursion in the surrounding mountains to see the rock paintings in San Borjitas, Trinidad or Pietras Pintas, or go fishing, kayaking and sailing along the rocky coast. Established in 1728, in Calle Zaragoza you will find Santa Rosalìa de Mulegé church. Located in a former prison, in the northenmost area, you can visit Museo de Mulegè showcasing local findings.

    Suggested sightseeing and excursions: boat cruise to see the whales (from Jan 2 to Mar 31), or trip to San Josè del Cabo area (from Apr 1 on). San Josè was founded by the Jesuits in the 18th century. The typical Mexican "plaza", including a gazebo with sophisticated wrought iron decorations and matching benches, is surrounded by boutiques and restaurants and is shaded by acacia trees and Indian laurels.

    While Cabo San Lucas offers nightlife and the sea, San José has a more sober and "Mexican" atmosphere. The closest beach in San Josè is "La Playita", perfect for relaxing walks.
