Excursion to the indigenous villages of the Baia di Traiçao reserve, the oldest in Brazil and the only present on the Brazilian coast. The tour includes a visit to the ruins of the Portuguese fort with an explanation of the history and culture of the Potiguara, a short trek on the cliffs of Alto de Tambà, spectacular rock formations overhanging the sea with shades of orange and yellow red.
Visit to the indigenous community of Barra di Camaratuba where a cooperative of Potiguara women produces and sells their handicrafts. Camaratuba is a place of enchanting and exuberant nature between river and sea, home to another protected environmental reserve.
The next step is the house of Dona Fatima, the only Pajè woman of the reserve: the Pajè is a mystical figure of the Indios, a curandeiro practicing with ritual herbs and ointments. Fatima will welcome the group with a typical Indios lunch, featuring fish wrapped in banana leaf and cooked under the sand covered with chickens, shrimp pirao, shrimp sauce and manioc flour, boiled macacheira, a tuber of the family of the manioc, clams cooked in coconut sauce, fried shrimp and bejù, a kind of cassava flour used as bread. Coconut water and fresh juices will be available.
